The arrival of Labor Day reminds me that the worst of the hot summer weather is finally behind me for this year. I can get back into my sewing room soon! Hooray! I hope by next year we have central air installed so I don't have to shut down for two months. The older I get, the harder the summers are on me. I think it's time to move north.

I have a 4-day weekend coming up and am really looking forward to the time off. We will spend some time with friends in Tucson. DH wants to go camping. It's too much work. The family camping trip is in October. I can wait til then.

I have discovered Quaker Samplers and am in love with them. Just what I need - new projects.

I am thinking of a way to quilt blocks as I go, then put them together. Once I get back into my sewing room, I will try out my ideas. Hope they work!

Well, the triple digits are here for the duration, I am afraid. If I can just make it through August..... It's so hard to motivate to be active with only a swamp cooler on the house and a window unit only in the bedroom for sleeping at night. Oh well.

Hooray Hooray! One less UFO! If I can figure out how to post pictures, I will post one of her (the recipient) wearing the 1870s outfit I made. It was fun, but time to move on to another UFO....

I've been quilting all weekend. Friday I took a class in machine applique. Then Friday evening and most of Saturday I worked on a baby quilt. Saturday night we went to a Halloween party. Not being into parties, I would have preferred staying home. Oh well. They did a good job decorating their house. Today I spent the day working on the baby quilt again. I sewed together 19 2" blocks, only to discover the bobbin thread was empty! WAAAAAAAA!!!!!! I finally quit and am now working on a pergamano project. I know, I really need to learn a new craft to fill up all my free (what's that?) time! lol Of course, I watched Midsomer Murders and Poirot while quilting. And caught Sense and Sensibility again this morning. Just realized Dr. House was in S&S!

I am a new gramma as of Friday. Logan arrived at 7:45AM, 10 lbs, 15 oz, 21 1/2". That makes 5 grandsons and 1 granddaughter.

Well, for me, anyway, 'cause I have Fridays off! Have quilt guild on Friday - that's a fun thing. Then spending the day Saturday with friends and getting in some fabric shopping - that's also a fun thing!

Had a cowboy reenactment show two weekends ago. Check our our website for pictures: arizonaghostriders.com

We got some rain today, which is always a good thing here in the desert. But now the sun is shining again. It is going to be a HOT ride home.

We are going to friends' this afternoon for a cookout and watch fireworks from their yard (won't have to fight traffic! Yeah!). Having the good ole' standbys - hamburgers, hotdogs, potato salad, deviled eggs (well, everyone else but me on the eggs - dh makes jalapeno deviled eggs), baked beans, chips, cupcakes, pop.

Just joined this site. Looks like it will be fun. I hope to post more about myself in the near future - just need time to learn my way around!
